(September 25, 2003) - Saunders Real Estate, a multi-million dollar brokerage firm based in Lakeland, Fla. wins two national marketing awards in 2003 for outstanding achievements for its consumer education brochure entitled, "We Create Solutions for Landowners: A Primer on Conversation Easements." Gold in "Consumer Education" from the Galaxy Awards With more than 450 entries from 14 countries, the Galaxy award symbolizes the assembly of numerous disciplines that create marketing excellence. The Galaxy Awards are an international competition honoring the professionals who contribute to the process of building image, creating profit and making a difference in the market place. The Galaxy Awards are sponsored by MerComm, Inc., founded with the principal purpose of advancing the arts and sciences of communications in an international arena. Gold in "Service Brochure" from the Mercury Awards The Mercury Award symbolizes the spirit of the message communicated. It is the creativity, originality and talent of the individuals involved to whom the program is dedicated. The annual Mercury Awards competition was established in 1987 by MerComm, Inc., the world's only independent awards organization. "This brochure was developed to provide insight and answers to questions about conservation easements and other landowner rights - simply stated and easy to understand," said Dean Saunders, president and owner of Saunders Real Estate. The award winning brochure was written by Dean Saunders, who is experienced in real estate, agriculture and government issues. As a native Floridian and the sixth generation of an agricultural-based family, Saunders is an expert in land brokerage and knows the needs of landowners and brings a unique perspective as a result of both private and public service. While a member of the Florida House of Representatives, Saunders focused on the protection of private property rights and natural resources. With his in-depth knowledge of the government processes, he utilized his expertise to craft legislation to benefit both landowners and the environment. The concept of conservation easements in Florida was implemented with the passage of the Green Swamp Land Authority in 1994, creating the first state agency to purchase development rights from landowners. As a member of the Florida Legislature at that time, Saunders led these actions because he strongly believed that this was a win-win for protecting the land from development and preserving the integrity of private property rights. Today, the purchase of conservation easements has become widely accepted and Florida has emerged as a leader in this burgeoning area.
