The updated booklet was unveiled at the spring Florida Real Estate Land Conference, annually held by Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Real Estate for land clients.

Originally written and published in 2002, the booklet offers unique advice and valuable information on one of real estate�s most specialty options � the conservation easement. Today, the booklet is updated with the most current information on conservation easements by its author, Dean Saunders, ALC. "This brochure was developed to provide insight and answers to questions about conservation easements and other landowner rights - simply stated and easy to understand," said Dean Saunders, president and owner of Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Real Estate.

Saunders is a former Florida legislator who assisted in creating and passing important conservation legislation, worked to further property rights of landowners, and who served with Florida US Senator, then Florida Governor, Lawton Chiles.

The concept of conservation easements in Florida was implemented with the passage of the Green Swamp Land Authority in 1994, creating the first state agency to purchase development rights from landowners. Saunders� efforts made conservation history resulting in the State�s very first purchases of conservation easements, a practice that continues to grow each year. Saunders led these actions because he strongly believed that this was a win-win option to protect land and to preserve the integrity of private property rights. Today, the purchase of conservation easements has become widely accepted and Florida has emerged as a leader in conservation practices.
