LAKELAND, FL November 13, 2012 – The 8th annual 2012 Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Real Estate BBQ was held in the authentic, antique-laden working barn of Wanda and Leland Young in Alturas, FL.

CBC Saunders Real Estate, a recognized land real estate brokerage firm located in Lakeland, Florida, hosts the event each year as a fun event to bring clients and community together. Coldwell Banker Commercial Saunders Ralston Dantzler, Polk County commercial real estate firm and sister company, was the co-host.

Fittingly, each year, the Saunders family commissions a Florida fine artist to paint a selected theme of Florida land and Florida agriculture. “Florida land has been my only business for 27 years; buying, selling, and conservation. I want to capture the natural landscapes that I knew as a boy,” states 7th generation Floridian, Dean Saunders, ALC, CCIM.

The 2012 painting was created by Lakeland nature and wildlife fine artist, Michael J. Nowak and is the second in the Florida Agricultural Heritage series. This painting captures grazing cattle on Florida’s natural pastureland landscape. “Capturing the beauty and essence…is the driving force to the soul of my painting and inspiration,” states Nowak. A full-sized Giclée reproduction of the original painting was presented as a gift to Leland and Wanda Young, owners of the antique barn.

The Saunders Collection started in 2004 with the first series theme, “Natural Lands of Florida.” This first series portrays scenes of untouched Florida natural lands and “Old Florida,” created by well-known Florida wildlife artist Thomas Brooks.

Starting in 2011, the new series, “Florida Agricultural Heritage” began with the painting of Florida orange groves by fine artist David Escadero of New Mexico.

In attendance to the event were several county commissioners, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, and other elected officials.

Surrounded by the ambiance of a working barn, walls loaded with interesting antique signs, tools, and farm implements, over 300 guests enjoyed a homemade BBQ dinner. Dean Saunders and sales agents personally cook the BBQ meat in a trailer-sized professional BBQ cooker for 24 hours to create the best BBQ found. All side dishes, cowboy beans, potato salad, rolls, and desserts were prepared by the Saunders’ family, wife Gina, daughter Lauren, staff Brigid Quill, and others.
