FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – LAKELAND, FL (November 20, 2014) – The 10th annual SVN | Saunders Real Estate BBQ was the venue where another exceptional original painting of Florida land was unveiled.
Each year, Dean Saunders, ALC, CCIM, real estate broker and owner of SVN Saunders Real Estate, commissions an original painting from a known artist, who is asked to portray a selected land scene of natural Florida land. These original paintings are added to The Saunders Collection.
This year, Saunders decided to do something different than years past. He commissioned Lakeland nature and wildlife fine artist, Stephen Koury to create four separate paintings to represent agriculture throughout the state. Each painting was made to represent a unique Florida agriculture harvest scene. The four paintings consisted of a North Florida cotton field, a Central Florida strawberry field, a Central to South Florida tomato crop, and a South Florida sugar cane burn. The paintings were made into a collage, printed, signed by the artist, and given as a gift to guests who attended the annual BBQ. The collage of paintings, “Florida Harvests” were fourth in the Florida Agricultural Heritage series.
The Saunders Collection was started in 2004 with the first series theme, “Natural Lands of Florida.” This first series portrays scenes of untouched Florida natural lands and habitats, created by well-known Florida wildlife fine artist, Thomas Brooks. In 2011, a new series, “Florida Agricultural Heritage” began with paintings by fine artist David Escadero of New Mexico and Lakeland, Florida’s nature and wildlife fine artist, Michael J. Nowak. It was continued in 2013 with a painting by Brooks. For more information on the Saunders Collection, please visit: SaundersCollectionNaturalLands.com
The annual BBQ was held in the authentic, antique-laden working barn of Wanda and Leland Young in Alturas, FL. A gift of a full-sized Giclée reproduction of the original paintings was presented to the Youngs.
Surrounded by the ambiance of a working barn, walls loaded with interesting antique signs, tools, and farm implements, guests enjoyed a homemade BBQ dinner. Dean Saunders and sales agents personally cooked the BBQ meat in a trailer-sized professional BBQ cooker for 24 hours to create the best BBQ found. All side dishes, cowboy beans, potato salad, coleslaw, and desserts were prepared by the Saunders’ family, wife Gina, daughter Lauren, and others.
SVN Saunders Real Estate hosts the BBQ each year as a fun event for over 300 clients, associates, friends, SVN Corporate, and community leaders. In attendance are local, county, and sometimes state government officials, including Polk County Commissioners: Todd Dantzler, Melony Bell, and George Lindsay. SVN | Saunders Ralston Dantzler, Polk County commercial real estate firm and sister company, was a co-host.
