LAKELAND, FL, December 9, 2022 - At the beginning of December, SVN | Saunders Ralston Dantzler had the opportunity to be one of many sponsors at the 2022 Florida Deer Hunt with Gold Star Teen Adventures. The expedition took place on one of our properties managed by our expert land advisors. Within DeLuca Preserve, Yeehaw Junction contains just over 27,000 acres of rural recreation in southern Osceola County.
Gold Star Teen Adventures works graciously with the children of our nations’ fallen service members. The late parents of these Gold Star Children were part of our nation's fallen soldiers, first responders, and intelligence community who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Part of Gold Star Teen Adventures' mission involves shepherding these kids along recreational retreats and camping trips where they can experience healing, practice leadership development, and learn ethical hunting and survival skills. We’re very honored to have worked with this group of young men who were able to share their hearts and a few laughs with our team.
The 2022 Florida Deer Hunt took place earlier this winter, flying 12 kids from all across the country into Florida to participate in this recreational expedition. Two of our very own Senior Advisors, Jeff Cusson, CCIM and Brian Beasley, CPA, CNLM, were also able to attend the event, working with this young group of men throughout this educational hunting retreat
“It was a really great and rewarding weekend for a group of very deserving young men!” said Cusson. “The participants all shared a common bond of sacrifice and service along with their love of the outdoors, so they really enjoyed their time together as well.”

Cusson reported that around three dozen volunteers also took part in this expedition. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office cooked a steak lunch for the young men and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) provided a hands-on hunters’ safety course. Shooting instruction was provided by an army ranger, two active duty Navy Seals, along with an accomplished avian hunter who volunteered that weekend.
Credit for putting this event together goes to Rob Springer, President of Springer-Peterson Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc. Springer's heart for these Gold Star kids should not go unnoticed. Along with this philanthropic effort, Springer has been and is continually involved in many conservation efforts throughout the nation. This event would not be possible without the help of these volunteers. There is a big thanks in order for all those that helped provide food, housing, transportation, guides, shooting instruction, mentoring, and lessons centered around moral hunting disciplines. Time in the woods served as a great time of healing and enjoyment for many of these teens. The opportunity for a number of them to harvest their first deer or hog was a great added bonus to their experience.
At its core, SVN | Saunders Ralston Dantzler has always held a passion for giving back. The Gold Star kids have experienced hardship far beyond what any child should have to and it was truly an honor to work alongside them. We were very fortunate to share and support this bonding experience for these young men as they formed lifelong relationships.
