Hosted by Saunders Ralston Dantzler, the annual Florida Lay of the Land Conference was held on February 29 and March 1, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida. This year’s conference was a great success that brought together landowners and other land professionals, sharing insights and updates within the Florida land market.

The conference kicked off with a warm welcome from Founder and Managing Director, Dean Saunders, ALC, CCIM. Saunders would also introduce Wilton Simpson, Florida Commissioner of Agriculture, who delivered a Legislative Update that provided attendees with valuable insights into the regulatory landscape impacting landowners in Florida.

One highlight of the conference was the panel discussion on "30 Years of Conservation Easements," featuring leaders and key figures who pioneered the use of conservation easements in Florida. Panelists discussed the inception of the Green Swamp Land Authority and how it evolved and impacted Florida land ownership over the past three decades.

Breakout sessions allowed attendees to learn more about specific areas of interest. Topics included Florida transportation, mineral rights, agricultural investments, and legislative policies.

The second day of the conference commenced with a keynote address on Florida's Economic Outlook by Jerry D. Parrish, Ph.D., Economist at Metro Atlanta Chamber. Other panel discussions spoke on Florida timberland and land development, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing the Florida land market.

The conference concluded with the unveiling of the Lay of the Land Market Report, presented by Dean Saunders, ALC, CCIM. As the single source of verified sales data for Florida land, the report continues to be an invaluable resource for evaluating market trends and land values throughout the year.

Saunders Ralston Dantzler would once again like to thank all who made this event possible, including all its attendees, expert speakers, and 2024 Strategic Partners. The conference not only provided a wealth of information but also fostered valuable professional relationships within the Florida land industry.
